What Causes Car Accidents?

Blog

Every car accident occurs differently, but accidents do often have a few things in common. Among those things are common factors that cause auto accidents. If you are in the claims process after a car accident, it is important that you understand the cause of your collision. This will help you prove that the other driver was at fault.

Figuring out what caused your car accident may be difficult. In many cases, you will have an investigator who handles this aspect of your case. Sometimes a police officer is able to pinpoint the cause during an initial on-scene investigation. Still, the process can be quite difficult, and you may want to prove that you were just an innocent driver in the wrong place at the wrong time. This is your lawyer's job, but you need to have some idea of what happened.

These are among the most common causes of accidents you may face.

Distracted Driving

Distracted driving is growing as technology becomes a bigger part of our lives. Even before text messaging and cell phones, people have been distracted by passengers, children in the backseat, pets in the car, and changing the radio station. Unfortunately, people often drive quickly while doing these things, leading to serious accidents.

Driving Under the Influence

Unfortunately, many people who know that it is unsafe to drive under the influence of drugs and alcohol do it anyway. They make bad decisions that can leave you injured and with high medical bills.

Reckless Driving

Reckless driving, like speeding and street racing, contributes to accidents as well. Speed limits are in place to keep the roads safe and to give everybody ample reaction time. Speeding drivers are often liable for accidents. Reckless driving may also include running a red light, running a stop sign, failing to give you right of way, and tailgating.

Road Quality

Sometimes, cities and other municipalities fail to take care of roads. You may find that the poor road quality contributes to your accident. In this case, you may have a strong case against the city or entity responsible for making sure the roads are safe.

Bad Auto Parts

Often, manufacturers are to blame for accidents. Something could be wrong with your car, and you may need to sue a manufacturer or mechanic to recover your losses in an accident.

No matter what caused your accident, you need to have an attorney. A car accident attorney will help you claim the cause of your accident and help you receive the compensation you deserve. To learn more about car accidents, contact an auto accident attorney in your area.

Noni and the Accident

My name is Noni. When I was in college, I was hit by a car while crossing the street. My life was never in danger, but I did break a few bones and had a lot of huge medical bills. I was hoping I wouldn't have to get involved with an attorney, but unfortunately, it came down to that. I used a family friend who is an accident attorney to get some compensation. A few years later, I was hit while riding my bike and had to go through the same process. I suppose I'm lucky to be alive. And it's thanks to accident attorneys that I have been able to put my life back together. I started this blog as a way to let others know just how much lawyers can help you in certain situations.
